[Bonita 7] Support relative URL to tomcat home directory for assets in pages, forms and custom widgets

In UI Designer, allow the use of relative url for external assets. For example, if I have a my.js file in tomcat home directory I can reference it with '/my.js' instead of 'http://server:port/my.js'.

This idea comes from a question I created few days ago to discuss the best way to manage assets in custom pages, forms and widgets ( you can see the whole discussion here ).

This is an excellent idea. For Community it is currently necessary to edit every time you move to a new server and/or port for example DEV->INTEGRATION->UAT->PROD. Not idea from a governance point of view.

Further to the above example I think it prudent to allow lower level directories also, for example

/myCompany/javascript/myjavascript001.js
/myCompany/css/mycss001.css

which would be translated to
http://myserver:myport/myCompany/javascript/myjavascript001.js

http://myserver:myport/myCompany/css/mycss001.css

etc.

Thanks Quentin.

Hi all

Thanks for this feedback.
indeed this feature could be really useful and is mandatory for a production environment where the hosting is not known in advance.

This feature has been identified in our backlog of development (FYI number BS-14627).
it is targeted to be done in a next minor release.

best regards
philippe

Hi,

Can you confirm this ticket's status ? ( BS-14627)
I just tried in 7.1.5 and I don't think I can use a relative URL.
Cheers,
Pierre
