Community Howto - Updating Application Web Pages

This is a Community Howto and not a question, there are no other places for Howto's so here it is:

Unless you count the ones as documented in the Documentation but that's for Bonitasoft. :)

Issue: Application Pages can not be replaced in Portal, you have to delete them first and then load the new ones... :(

Resolution: this is found to work on 7.3.1

Update Application Web Pages

  1. Update the Page in UI Designer
  2. Save and Export (overwriting previous zip if necessary)
  3. Login to Portal as Administrator
  4. Goto Application List
  5. Edit (...) Application
  6. If the Page is your HOME page then choose another page and make it Home, it's temporary only.
  7. Make a Note of the Pages name, very important for the Navigation List (See also Note: 1)
  8. Delete (Remove) the Page
  9. Click Resources
  10. Click on the Page and then Delete
  11. Click Add and select the new Zip file
  12. Go Back to Application Tab
  13. Edit (...) Application
  14. Add the Page to the Application Pages using the Name noted in (7)
  15. If page is to be Home click the Home Button to make it Home

All done. It would of course be much easier if there was the ability of Overwrite Resources and allow the system to take care of everything, but can you have everything?

Hope you found this useful, more to follow? Don't know... :)

regards
Seán

Note 1: If the page is in the Navigation List it will be removed automatically. Only the Top Level page seems to stay so don't forget to add the page back accordingly

I found it easier exporting the Application, deleting it, editing the exported XML file and reimporting it. Also much easier to reorder things the way you want them too (take a backup before editing though :)
