Will dynamic permissions be removed from BonitaCommunity starting with 2021.2?

Hi,

Considering what the Bonita 2021.1 Release Notes read:

(...) API dynamic security capabilities will be removed from Bonita Community 2021.2 and will be part of the set of Enterprise features related to security (...)

  • Does this mean that it will no longer be possible to enable/define/execute the REST API's dynamic permission checks in the Community edition of Bonita?
  • If so, is there an alternative, within the very Community edition?

Hi,

I confirm Dynamic Security will be removed from Community edition to be reserved to Enterprise edition in the next release.

This decision is part of our new strategy to better serve our users at a whole. Starting Bonita 2021.1, We've decided to open source an unprecedented number of features:

  • Multi environment management
  • All connectors (SAP, Office, Salesforce, UI Path)
  • All editors (Rest API Extension, Themes, Living Applications)
  • Collaboration tooling (Git)
  • Advanced wizard (email, web service, database, Twitter)
  • Search indexes
  • Fragments
  • Localization updating from Bonita UI Designer
  • Responsive UI management - multiple screen size
  • New widgets (save form, rich text area, chart, advanced table)

The 2021.1 release has also been the opportunity to adjust some features and services with the objective to clarify what is available in the Community edition vs Enterprise:

Bonita Enterprise is the commercial edition of the platform to address core and critical process automation use cases. This edition adds capabilities to Bonita Community to secure, scale, monitor and continuously improve process automation projects. The Enterprise edition is bundled with a customer success subscription that provides full project lifecycle support and services from development to operations.

Should you need to use Dynamic security in the future, you have the option to either buy the Enterprise edition, or take advantage of the extensibility of the Bonita Open Source project to implement the feature that match your needs.
