Bonita Update Tool

Definition first. Updating means moving from one Bonita version to a newer one, to benefit from:

  • new features (in Main versions)

  • technology updates (in Main versions)

What is Bonita Update Tool?

Bonita Update Tool is composed of a set of scripts that execute changes on the data to make it compatible with a newer version of Bonita Runtime.

This tool is provided as a zip archive that contains an executable script to determine your Bonita Runtime current version and displays a list of the Bonita versions available for update. Once the target version is specified, the updating procedure starts. At the end of the update script execution, a dedicated user message will be mentioned showing-

  • the new Bonita Runtime version

  • the database update

  • the time taken for migrating all the elements

Bonita Update Tool should be used for updating Bonita Runtime starting from 7.10.0 version or later to any version up to the last one available.

How do I get it?

Bonita Update Tool is available on the Bonitasoft web site for Bonita Community edition and on the Customer Service Center for Bonita Subscription editions. Downloading a Tomcat server that matches the target Bonita Runtime version.

Note: After the update, Bonita Runtime configuration files will be reset to the default version so that the new settings could be applied. Therefore, having a backup of the configuration files before launching the updating procedure is HIGHLY necessary. The files with the custom properties and configurations will have to be merged after the update to the target Bonita Runtime.

PS: The Update Tool cannot be used to upgrade/downgrade from the Community and Subscription edition.

More details are available in the Bonita Update Tool documentation page here.
