We upgraded from 7.7.0 to 7.8.4 and several cases were archived. Is there a way to restore them from the archive to active cases? Also, these are in the arch_* database tables but do not appear in the portal as archived.

Do you mean the migration archive case? You have before some Active case, and after migration, some active case becomes archived?
That's not normal, migration should not impact cases.
If you have access to the Bonitasoft support, you should open a ticket.
If not, may you share a simple example, for example, a backup of your database in 7.7.0, and a backup of the database in 7.8.4?
Could you, using a page like Longboard, show a case in 7.7.0, and show the same case via LongBoard in 7.8.4 ?
To answer the other part of the questions:
* no, it's not possible to re-activate an archived case
* a case saved in the arch_* case must be visible in the portal, in the archived tab, as an administrator (a user may not see all cases)
Do you access the case via LongBoard? Could you share then the HAR of the LongBoard access?
If the case is not visible in the LongBoard, could you run a SQL Request in the arch_process_instance (or something like this) database with the caseId?
